Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on

September 22, 2018

Eagle Creek Fishing Triathlon

9/15/2018 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Located at the Eagle Creek Park

Bring your family and friends or come alone for this unique fishing event where you'll get to try catching fish - three different ways. No pre-registration required, and all ages are welcome! At 10:00am, we'll start at Lilly Lake.  Participants will have the opportunity to fish with three different styles of fishing pole/rig and three different types of bait. More activities to be announced soon! All Bait and Tackle will be provided for free! Gate fee will be enforced upon entry to the park. Anglers 18 and older need a fishing license.

Electrofishing Demo

9/15/2018 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM

Located at Paynetown SRA - Fishing Pier

Electrofishing uses direct current electricity to attract fish so that they can be easily netted (with no harm to the fish!). It’s a common scientific survey method used to sample fish populations to determine abundance, density, and species composition.  At 12:30 p.m., fisheries biologist Debra King will give a short talk at the pier about the technique and tools used in electrofishing. You can then watch as she electrofishes in the area around the pier. At around 1:05 p.m., Debra will bring the boat back up alongside the pier to showcase (and release) the fish that she caught.

Open Fishing

9/15/2018 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM

Located at Monroe Lake

Go fishing this afternoon! Fishing equipment and bait is all provided, and volunteers will be there to provide any assistance or advice you need! (Adults wishing to fish must have a fishing license; no license is needed for children 17 and under.)

On the second day, he will stop at public access points from Noblesville through Indianapolis. At each spot, he'll fish, take photos and talk about the fish and habitat in that area. You also can meet Clint at the river at one of the following spots and times — maybe you'll discover your next favorite fishing spot
