8th Annual Reaching for Rainbows Special Needs Kids Fishing Derby at Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery near Jamestown, Kentucky. This free event aims to get kids hooked on fishing. Our own wheelchair-accessible Hatchery Creek will be stocked and ready with lots of large rainbow trout when children from area schools arrive. With the help of volunteers these children have a safe and comfortable environment to enjoy the outdoors. What better way to enjoy the outdoors than with a day of fishing! The event is free and open to area students who are severely disabled and have extra special needs. Hamburgers and other refreshments will be provided as will prizes. All Kentucky Sport Fishing Regulations will apply. All bait and tackle will be supplied or participants can bring their own. Pre-registration will be conducted through the local school district and is required for event attendance. The event coincides with the annual National Hunting and Fishing Day (NHFD) which is scheduled for Sept. 26th, 2015. This nationwide effort aims to bring recognition and media attention to the value of hunting and fishing and reinforce their role in conservation.
