Family Fish Fest

Waddill Outdoor Education Center in Baton Rouge

To celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on Saturday, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host a Family Fish Fest at the facility beginning at 9 a.m. The friendly competition is open to youths aged 15 and under.

The event is free, and registration is on-site only. The first 50 registrants will receive a complimentary rod and reel, and the first 100 registrants will receive a fishing goodie bag.

The kids will also be entered into numerous prize drawings, and even the adults who bring them can get in on the fun. Each adult will receive one raffle ticket for each youth they bring and enter into the Family Fish Fest.

All anglers are asked to bring their own fishing equipment and bait.

There will be other events going on at Waddill that day that will attract the interest of anglers of all ages, including exhibits on LDWF management programs, shooting and fishing demonstrations, canoeing, free Louisiana game and seafood samples and exhibits from local chapters of Ducks Unlimited, Safari Club and the Coastal Conservation Association.
