In honor of National Hunting and Fishing Day, this annual event (held at the NYSDEC Region 8 HQ) is aimed at the whole family. We think everyone can find something of interest to do or see. You can try your hand at a variety of outdoor activities, including trap shooting, archery, duck decoy contest (Sat@Noon), fly casting and canoeing and it’s always fun to watch the FLCC Woodmen put on Lumberjack demonstrations (Saturday only). If shopping for a boat or an ATV is of interest, one of the commercial vendors will be glad to talk with you. In addition to these vendors, we expect 70+ flea market vendors. These vendors range from Army/Navy surplus to trapping suppliers to nature artists to taxidermists to raffle sellers. There should be a vendor with something for everyone in the family. Make sure you stop by one of the meat processors for a free sample while at the event. We also have a few commercial food vendors providing: donuts and coffee, hot dogs, Italian sausage, popcorn, snacks, soft drinks and buffalo burgers. You can plan the day’s outing without a need to find a place for lunch. If you have never had a Buffalo Burger, you should try one. This year’s event will mark the 37th year of celebrating “National Hunting and Fishing Day”. This event is held outside so plan accordingly. Attendance generally runs from 10,000 to 15,000 depending on the weather. A shuttle bus is available, FREE of charge, to shuttle you from the parking area to/from the event. Yes, Admission is also FREE. And yes, we have several port-a-john available for those in need. The LCFSC tent is located along the main driveway across from the pond’s peninsula. Stop by, we have lots of FREE literature and we will be giving away a door prize each hour for FREE. Although not required, we won’t turn down a donation to help us offset the cost of the event.
