Celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on

September 22, 2018

 


National Hunting and Fishing Day Celebration

Sunday, Sept. 23, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., rain or shine.

 Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area Visitor’s Center

The event will offer attendee the opportunity to hone their outdoor skills and learn new ones. Participants can learn from various exhibitors and hands-on activities. Instructional demonstrations will be offered on trapping, waterfowl calling, fly-tying, wildlife capture

techniques, decoy carving planting native gardens and wild game cooking. There will also be simulated and live fire and archery shooting stations and a catch and release, "learn to fish" station for youth courtesy of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. The

Department of Conservation and Natural resources will also be on sire to talk about no trace left behind camping and hunting. Game Commission staff will be available to answer questions on Chronic Wasting Disease and talk about wildlife management strategies and

habitat management practices. The Game Commission will be presenting demonstrations on Elk darting and tracking techniques, turkey rocket netting, usage of the public mapping center and lead an informative discussion on the recruitment, retention and reactivation of

men and women into Pennsylvania’s rich hunting heritage.
