Youth Outdoor Day

9/8/2018 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM 

Located at the Caledon State Park 

Test your outdoor skills and try out activities including decoy painting, turkey calling, casting/fishing, and marksmanship. Other activities include live birds of prey presentations, K-9 demonstrations, and more. Checkout skills demonstrations and more from the Patawomeck tribe of VA. Fly Tying and Introduction to Fly Casting will be led by the Falmouth Fly Fishers and Gander Outdoors will be presenting Introduction to Kayaking - dress to get wet.

Dove Hunting Workshop and More!

Located at the Landfill Farm

This Dove Hunting Workshop is designed to help the new hunter build skills and community. This event will allow 6 new hunters to bring a licensed adult mentor (who has completed the Hunter Education Course) to register for the workshop and accompany them on a Dove Hunt at Landfall Farm. Included in this hunting workshop will be information on the species, clay target shooting to warm up for the doves, and a cookout will be provided by the Hunter T. Crane Foundation. Following the hunt, we will assist hunters in caring for their harvest.

Basic Hunter Education Course with Live Fire

9/15/2018 and 9/16/2018 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Located that the Liberty Corner Farm Range

This two-day course includes the opportunity to safely shoot rifles, shotguns and compound bows; safely climb a tree stand; safely cross a fence and stream; and trail a wounded animal under the direction of experienced instructors. Students will receive their Hunter Safety certificate at the end of Day 1; all Live Fire and field activities occur on Day 2. Lunch will be provided by the Virginia Sportman's Foundation on both days.

Deer Hunting for Beginners and More!

Located at the Sussex Shooting Sports 

Expanding Your Deer Hunting Season: Interested in expanding your deer hunting season by trying a different firearms/archery season? Want to develop your skills? This workshop will have both general sessions and preregistered live fire sessions and is for participants 12 years old through adult. The general sessions include Deer Biology and Habitat, Treestand & Blind Safety, and Deer Processing. Each student must sign up for one of the following live fire classes (firearms, ammunition,and archery tackle provided: Archery, Muzzleloader,or Shotgun; first to register, first serve. In addition to completing this registration,you must pre-register for which live fire class you wish to take by clicking here: you are not completely registered until you have done both, Youth under 16 must have a parent/guardian in the same firearm class. Please bring your own lunch.
