Cabela's Renews National Hunting and Fishing Day Support
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunters and anglers, has renewed its longstanding sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day, set for Sept. 26, 2009.
Special events on and around that date are being planned at all 29 Cabela’s stores. Visit www.cabelas.com for details.
Congress formalized the annual celebration in 1972 as a public reminder that conservation depends on funding and leadership from hunters and anglers. Licenses, permits and special taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, arrows, rods and reels generate $100,000 every 30 minutes—totaling more than $1.75 billion per year—for fish, wildlife and habitat. The results benefit all Americans who appreciate wildlife and wild places.
The sponsorship from Cabela’s supports Wonders of Wildlife, the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day. The museum, based in Springfield, Mo., is working to deliver Congress’s message throughout the year.
“Each year, our sponsors help us push good news about hunting and fishing to new audiences nationwide, and Cabela’s has been right here with us every step of the way,” said Denise Wagner of Wonders of Wildlife.
Country music star Luke Bryan is the honorary chairman for NHF Day 2009.
The growing list of sponsors for National Hunting and Fishing Day includes Wonders of Wildlife, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Bass Pro Shops, The Sportsman Channel, Realtree, GunBroker.com, Hunting Heritage Trust, Cabela’s, Boone and Crockett Club, Smith & Wesson, Field & Stream/Outdoor Life, Woolrich and Yamaha.
