National Hunting and Fishing Day Welcomes Woolrich


SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—Woolrich, the Original Outdoor Clothing Company, has renewed its longstanding sponsorship of National Hunting and Fishing Day, the annual celebration of original outdoor traditions.

Established by Congress for the fourth Saturday of every September, NHF Day is set for Sept. 26, 2009.

Public commemorations of hunting, fishing and conservation are being planned nationwide. And the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day, Wonders of Wildlife museum in Springfield, Mo., is spearheading a national awareness campaign. For more information, visit

With the help of Woolrich and our other sponsors, we’re reaching out to America with a message that healthy fish, wildlife and habitat depend on funding and leadership from hunters and anglers.”

Along with hunting and fishing licenses, excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, arrows, rods and reels generate $100,000 every 30 minutes—totaling more than $1.75 billion per year—for fish, wildlife and habitat.
