Academy Sports + Outdoors to Sponsor NHF Day
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—One of the nation’s largest sporting goods retailers with over 125 stores across the southeastern U.S., Academy Sports + Outdoors has stepped up as a new national sponsor of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Set for Sept. 25, 2010, NHF Day is an annual commemoration of hunters and anglers and their vital leadership in conservation.
Congress formalized the day in 1972 and every U.S. President has formally proclaimed the celebration and its message. Hunting and fishing licenses, along with excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, bows, arrows, rods and reels, together generate $100,000 every 30 minutes—totaling more than $1.75 billion per year—for fish, wildlife and habitat. No one does more for conservation than hunters, anglers and recreational sport shooters.
Through its new sponsorship, Academy Sports + Outdoors is supporting Wonders of Wildlife, the official home of NHF Day in Springfield, Mo. Wonders of Wildlife’s education and communication campaigns help deliver the NHF Day message year round.
